From the Bishop

Welcome to the Auckland Cathedral of St Patrick and St Joseph.

A special welcome to those of you who are visitors to our shores. The Cathedral is the Mother church of the Catholic Diocese of Auckland, attracting many who seek the abiding presence of the Lord. May your visit to this very sacred place be blessed. May we all be enthusiastic as we to share the Gospel of Joy.

In the Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy were were invited by Pope Francis to renew our faith by visiting the Cathedral and passing through the Holy Door of Mercy.  While the Holy Door has now been de-commissioned we reflect on the words of  Pope Francis “Even if the Holy Door closes, the true door of mercy which is the heart of Christ always remains open wide for us.” We pray in turn, that we may be instruments of His Mercy and Peace here on earth.  May God bless our efforts as we celebrate LIFE in the RISEN LORD,  and journey through the great season of grace that is ADVENT.

Welcome to the Cathedral

Blessings and peace to all our visitors!

Greetings and Welcome to the St Patrick's Cathedral Website

The Cathedral is well situated in downtown Auckland, at the heart of New Zealand's largest city.

Some three thousand people attend Mass here each Sunday. During the week thousands more come to pray, light a candle or enjoy a moment's peace. The liturgical life of the Cathedral is rich and vibrant. May God bless our endeavours as we celebrate Jesus Christ ~ our Way, our Truth, our Life! Visit the Cathedral's Facebook page and you may have a sense of who we are... House of God, Icon of Christ, Mother Church, Oasis of Peace, Place of Prayer... home and place of community and celebration for God's people.

Blessings,

Monsignor Bernard Kiely

Cathedral Administrator & Vicar General Diocese of Auckland
