From the Bishop

Welcome to the Auckland Cathedral of St Patrick and St Joseph.

Happy New year and blessings to you.

A special welcome to those of you who are visitors to our shores.

The Cathedral is the Mother church of the Catholic Diocese of Auckland, attracting many who seek the abiding presence of the Lord.

May your visit to this very sacred place be blessed.

2017 see a number of clergy appointments take place. On the last weekend of January we will farewell Msgr Bernard Kiely and Fr Larry Rustia from the Cathedral priestly team. We are very grateful for the generous ministry to the Cathedral.

On Wednesday 1 February 7.30pm I will welcome and install Pa Peter Tipene as the Dean of the Cathedral of St Patrick and St Joseph. Pa is currently parish priest of Christ the King Parish in Owairaka. He will be assisted by Fr Sherwin Lapaan who will be coming across from St Joseph's in Takapuna. All are welcome to attend what promises to be a very historic occasion as we install Pa Peter in this important role in the diocese.

May God bless all we do in His name.

Welcome to the Cathedral

Happy New Year!

Peace to all as we journey into 2017.

Greetings and Welcome to the St Patrick's Cathedral Website

The Cathedral is well situated in downtown Auckland, at the heart of New Zealand's largest city.

Some three thousand people attend Mass here each Sunday. During the week thousands more come to pray, light a candle or enjoy a moment's peace. The liturgical life of the Cathedral is rich and vibrant. May God bless our endeavours as we celebrate Jesus Christ ~ our Way, our Truth, our Life! Visit the Cathedral's Facebook page and you may have a sense of who we are... House of God, Icon of Christ, Mother Church, Oasis of Peace, Place of Prayer... home and place of community and celebration for God's people.

Blessings,

Monsignor Bernard Kiely

Cathedral Administrator & Vicar General Diocese of Auckland
